Flammable Statement No2, 2019

Existing within the medium of time, the film Flammable Statement No2 features Romina Gonzales mindfully writing “We Are Not Equal” with molten glass on a wooden surface. The act in and of itself is a meditative process on the significance of the words while coming to terms with their dual meaning. As each letter is carefully laid down, the wood catches on fire, creating a permanent print from the burning of the material.

Written and performed by Romina Gonzales. Filmed and edited by Jason Robert Bauer. Audio by Jason Robert Bauer. Assistance by Courtney McCloskey and Mia Sartori. Made with the support of the CGCA Fellowship at Wheaton Arts, Sandy Gellis, Paul Spraos & Brette Popper. Produced by J & R Bauer Inc in 2019.
